The new year brings excitement and a flurry of activity for the human resources (HR) department. You need to do several things to set your company up for success in the New Year. Here are some new year tips:
Review Employee Benefits
Now is a great time to look at the perks and benefits you offer to your employees. What worked in 2021, and what didn’t? Try sending out an employee satisfaction survey. Also, look at the exit surveys from employees who left during the year. Are there any common themes? What else could you offer to make your company more competitive in 2022?
Revisit COVID-19 Protocols
Although many experts believe that we’re finally emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re not there yet. And some additional localized waves of infection are possible even once the pandemic is over. Take some time to review your policies and protocols to see if you need to make any tweaks.
Send Out Employee Reminders
There are a few things employees need to do at the end of the year. These include signing up for next year’s insurance coverage and updating their personal information. Make a list of everything you need from employees before year’s end, and then send out reminders for them to complete those tasks.
Consider Your Hiring Plans
The Great Resignation of 2021 has not yet ended, and many employers are still having trouble finding enough staff. Think through your recruiting strategies and how you could entice more prospects to apply. Determine how many staff you’ll need to hire and create solid hiring plans.
Think About Your Corporate Culture
Now more than ever, people want to work for companies that make them feel valued. This means improving your diversity and inclusion policies, as well as making a renewed commitment to your workers. There are plenty of ways to boost your company culture, from implementing a more solid feedback system to starting an optional after-work sports team.
The end of the year can be busy for HR staff. But it’s important to get everything in place for a more successful 2022.
